Being the lazy duck that I am, putting things off ad infinitum, I FINALLY wrote an overdue welcome email for new subscribers since migrating to this platform. And then I thought, I need to share this with you too. For a refresher of our relationship and the raison d’etre of these emails, if nothing else.
So here we go again:
Welcome to The Shakaib Feroz Letter (though I already said it in the subject line, but that is how we riff).
You are getting this email because you have the exquisite taste to have signed up to the emails of one of the living geniuses of this time. I hate touting my own horn … (oh who am I kidding, I love it!) … but it’s not just me saying it, it’s the people who know me. And that now includes you. But no pressure, take your time knowing me and recognizing my genius. Because, ultimately, my friend, I am just reflecting your own genius here.
And that’s what the attached 87 Reminders are about. We all need them from time to time.
So you either you have the exquisite taste to have signed up, or someone with the exquisite taste knew that you have the exquisite taste for my emails. Either way, please accept my warm, hearty welcome.
To introduce myself, I’ll just borrow a few words from Tony Stark, “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.” But let’s modify them for the sake of accuracy. “Genius, billionaire-to-be, ex-playboy, philanthropist-at-heart.” There, much better now.
Other than that, I have been a writer, artist, publisher, marketer, entrepreneur, consultant, animator, martial artist, occultist, philosopher, mystic, polymath, etc. as various points in my life. Sometimes in part, sometimes all at once.
I have contributed to brands like Coca-Cola, Unilever, Mondelez, Barclays, TikTok and countless small businesses, startups and creator-businesses. (This happens to be the most boring line in the entire email. I had no fun writing it. But a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do.)
All in all, I am just a spiritual being, having the human experience of writing an email right now. Aren’t we all? Even if you are not writing an email right now.
So kick back, chill out, enjoy the ride. I’ll try make the life lessons as palatable and enjoyable as possible. Because, at the end of the day, what am I other than a storyteller. And a shameless marketer, of course.
